Hilda Willis… What can I say about Hilda Willis? She is REAL! She is the TRUTH. Period. So to speak about her I can only really speak the truth, right? I absolutely love her! Hilda loves people. She loves artists. She loves the craft, the artistic process and all that goes into making one not only a well-grounded, sound and dynamic artist but a well-grounded, sound and dynamic human-being. She has amazing gifts, she connects on much deeper levels than most teachers and coaches out in the world today. She speaks to the mind, the body, the heart, the spirit and the soul all at the same time.
Hilda Willis is an awesome force of nature and I am so grateful and blessed to have her in my life not only as a mentor, teacher and friend but also as a mother. I met Hilda at the very beginning of my career at the age of 15 and she’s been in my life ever since. She has always been a source of directness, love and truth in a business and world which at times can lack those elements. She is like a beacon in the at times foggy creative world. She moves with grace and spirit and truth… it’s not always easy to hear the truth, but you bet you need to hear it and she always comes from a place of love. On several occasions when my instrument has hit the proverbial “wall” she has been able to speak to my complete self, connect the dots and get me through to the other side. The result some of the best work I’ve done in my entire life and a deeper understanding of myself.
Here’s my bottom line: If you’re looking for the truth… the truth in your artistry… the truth in you? Hilda Willis is the truth. So go live your art!
